Different Between LCD And OLED

- May 25, 2020-

The LCD relies on the backlight layer, which can only display white light, but there is a color film on the backlight layer, so it is a color image reflected in people's eyes. OLED screen is composed of organic light-emitting diodes, which is a self luminous mode. The specific difference on the display is that OLED screen has higher contrast, its black color gamut does not glow, and it is pure black.

OLED screens do not need a backlight layer, so OLED screens are thinner than OLED screens. Because the black part doesn't light up, OLED screen is more economical. In addition, OLED's gray-scale response time is very short, so users are more handy in the operation.

LCD screen also has something that OLED screen can't reach. The first is the service life. As OLED screen is made of organic materials, the aging speed is very fast. Because the pixels of OLED screen can work independently, the coordination of OLED screen is very poor, and it is easy to burn the screen.

Generally, it is specified that the flicker range of healthy frequency return screen is more than 1250hz, while that of OLED screen is only 240Hz. The brightness can be adjusted by the periodic alternation of light and dark through human visual residue, which will make people tired and become "hot eyes".

Because of the existence of liquid crystal layer and backlight layer, it is impossible for LCD screen to bend greatly. OLED can be folded almost as casually as origami. Samsung's curved screen is supported by OLED technology. It should be noted that what we are talking about here is large bending. For desktop curved screens or LCD screens, you can find that the bending degree is not large. OLED can be folded in half like paper.
