The basic structure of capacitive touch panel is composed of two parts: touch sensor and cover mirror. There are two types of touch sensors.
We have the advantage of glass sensors in terms of optical performance, durability and narrow boundaries, and then thin-film sensors
Thin, light, convenient (or easy) production advantages.
There are two types of cover lenses: glass and plastic.
Typical coverage lenses range in thickness from 0.55, 0.75, 1.1, 2mm for mobile communication devices to 3mm for industrial applications, up to 12mm.
The dielectric constant and thickness of the cover lens have direct influence on the sensitivity of the capacitive touch panel.
A cover lens and/or higher dielectric constant results in better performance. Plastic (PMMA) has a lower dielectric constant and must be half as thick as glass to achieve the same properties.
WIWO has developed various types of sensor and lens covering capacitive touch panel combinations: glass to glass, glass to film and plastic to glass.
A glass/glass (G/G) capacitive touch panel (CTP) is used to sandwich the glass cover lens
The cover glass is used to protect the sensor glass below, which is used to sense the contact. The sensor glass is coated with two conductive ITO layers: one for the X-axis and the other for the Y-axis. There are two types of G/G solutions: double-sided indium tin oxide (DITO), patented by Apple, and single-sided ITO (SITO), which are the most popular for use in the CTP industry.
The total thickness of WIWO's G/G CTP can range from 1.1 mm for portable devices to 3mm to 12mm for a variety of industrial applications. The advantage of the G/G model CTP is that the glass lens can be customized through screen printing on the back surface, in-mold decoration (IMD), a complex treatment of porous multi-grooving, rounded corners, even curved edges and, in most cases, chemical reinforcement to enhance its resistance to external impact.
