The principle of capacitive touch screen
Capacitive touch screen is a device that uses changes in the electric field between the touch screen electrodes and the body's capacitance to detect touch input behaviour. It is usually composed of a glass panel, a conductive coating and a capacitive plate.
When a finger touches the screen, the weak electrical charge carried by the body interacts with the electric field of the conductive coating. This electrical interaction is transferred to the capacitive plate, where the voltage will drop and thus change the charge state of the capacitor. According to the principle of capacitors, there is a relationship between the state of charge of the capacitor and the voltage and capacity, so this voltage drop can be used to determine the location of the touch and convert it into a digital signal output, thus achieving human-computer interaction.
The advantages of capacitive touch screens
1. High sensitivity
Capacitive touch screen using the principle of capacitance so that it can be very sensitive to changes in the input charge, so for a very slight touch operation can also make accurate feedback. Compared with other touchscreens, it can recognise smaller images and text, improving the user's interactive experience.
2. Easy to use
Capacitive touch screens are simple to use, requiring only the touch of a finger to operate the screen. It allows for more natural interaction with the human body than traditional mouse and keyboard input, improving user convenience.
3. Multi-touch support
Capacitive touch screens support multi-touch, detecting the position of multiple fingers on the screen and operating in accordance with the user's gestures. This function is very useful in many situations, especially for mobile devices and tablets, which can provide a more flexible and controllable user interaction experience.
4. Durability
Capacitive touch screens use high quality materials and manufacturing processes to provide high levels of durability and resistance to friction. This design reduces equipment maintenance costs and increases the reliability of hardware performance, making the machine last longer.
5. Clear display
Capacitive touch screens often use a screen design with an anti-reflective coating added, which effectively reduces viewing glare and allows users to clearly view the content on the screen even outdoors or in bright light conditions. This design enhances the value of the product and increases user satisfaction.
Capacitive touch screens are becoming more and more widely used. Not only can it be used on smartphones and tablets, but it can also be used in ATM self-service machines, ordering machines, mobile POS terminals, industrial controls, maritime and aerospace control panels, etc. It has become an indispensable part of modern life.
