Projected Capacitive (PCAP)
Capacitive touchscreens are usually all glass with a metallic conductive coating on the glass layer. The electrode pattern along the edges distributes a low voltage field across the conductive layer.
A person's finger or a conductive device held by a person's hand touches a point on a capacitive touchscreen, which draws a small amount of current to that point, causing a voltage drop. The controller counts the touch point, records the touch, and triggers a response. Higher durability and greater than 90% light transmittance are unique advantages of capacitive touchscreens.

To improve accuracy, some PCAP touchscreens now include thicker glass, which will detect less signal while increasing signal strength and maintaining an optimal noise ratio.
