Air or tape bonding for touch screen and lcd

- Jul 25, 2024-

Introduction to the steps of air/tape bonding for the touch screen and lcd

Preparation:
Prepare cleaning cloths, cleaners (avoid cleaners containing alcohol), double-sided tape and other materials.
Ensure that the workbench is clean and tidy, dust-free and static-free.

Cleaning the screen:
Use a cleaning cloth to wipe the surface of the display and touch screen to remove dust and stains.
Use a cleaning agent sprayed on the cleaning cloth and gently wipe the screen surface, brushing from top to bottom and left to right.
Then apply double-sided tape to the metal edges around the front of the LCD screen.

Align & Fix:
Place the touchscreen on the clean display and determine the alignment position by comparing the size and shape.
Use double-sided tape to fix the touchscreen to the four sides of the display, making sure to leave an air layer between the touchscreen and the display.

Quality check:
Check the lamination effect to ensure that the screen surface is flat and free of air bubbles or impurities.
If dust or impurities are found to enter the gap between the touch screen and the display, it needs to be cleaned in time.

Advantages of air/tape bonding for the touch screen and display:
Simple process: the air/tape bonding technology uses double-sided adhesive to fix the four sides of the touch screen and display, easy to operate, no need for complex equipment and processes.
Low cost: Due to the simple process and low material cost, the overall cost of the air/tape bonding technology is low.
Convenient maintenance: Since the touch screen is fixed with the display through double-sided adhesive and leaves an air layer, it is easier to disassemble and replace the parts during maintenance.
High yield rate: due to the mature process, the yield rate of the air/tape bonding technology is relatively high, reducing the defective rate in the production process.

Disadvantages of air/tape bonding for the touch screen and display:
Poor display effect: there is an air layer between the touch screen and the display in the air/tape bonding technology, the light will be refracted and reflected when it passes through the air layer, which leads to a discount in the display effect, such as colour distortion, contrast reduction, etc..
Dust ingress problem: the existence of the air layer makes it easier for dust to enter between the touch screen and the display, affecting the cleanliness of the screen and the display effect.
Thick body: Due to the air layer between the touch screen and the display, and the need to use double-sided adhesive for fixing, the overall thickness of the body is relatively large, which is not conducive to the thin and light design of the product.
Reflective obvious: the existence of the air layer and double-sided tape will increase the reflectivity of the screen, affecting the user's experience in a bright light environment.

In summary, the air/tape bonding technology for the touch screen and display has advantages in terms of simple process, low cost and easy maintenance, but has disadvantages in terms of display effect, grey ingress problem, body thickness and reflectivity. When choosing the lamination method, it needs to be weighed according to the specific needs and design objectives of the product.
